Dhanurmasam!

I recall.Dhanurmasam pooja was happening way back from1966.Amma was the only one bothered abut it.She would keep the prasadam for us children.we used totakeit,rather I,as if favouring amma. I was expecting my baby to be born on15th January 1983.In 1982,December when I visited Ramamandira,in Jayanagar,Mysore.I read a notification which saidThiruppavai pravachanam would begin from 24th Dec.I decided I should attend the programme.But the design of detiny was different.The morning of 24th gave me indication of my child's arrival,and she arrived at 430pm on 24th.I totally forgot about Dhanurmasam and Andal.
In the following years I must have learnt a little by little.I was repeatedly drawn to it for the universal message it carries.Incidentally,this year my daughter has decided to indulge in RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS in the memory of my mom.She does not know the thiruppavai invokes people to charitable work.May be for the past 20 years we have been consciously celebrating the Dhanurmasam,with amma reciting the thiruppavai with us. Me and my husband.This year she is with Andal to listen to our recital.I missed her badly.amma sukhavagiru.
